Born in Hammond Lake, Indiana to Ignacius "Ernest" and Anna Kolowick Zych, both Polish immigrants.

Joined Army Nurse Corps in July 1943, service number N-729326.

Assigned to the 303rd Station Hospital at Camp Kilmer, New Jersey, then transported to England by ship, and after arrival in Glasgow, Scotland, was transferred to Lilford, England.

For the next two years, she was treating wounded soldiers from the battlefields of Europe when she became ill with a high fever, possibly from meningitis, slipped into a coma, and died.
