The bomber called "TROUBLE" and flown by Captain Wilhite was attacked by Fw-190 rocket launcher at about 21,000 feet elevation and two projectiles touched the plane, one in the cockpit and the other in the right.
The plane caught fire and left her training.
Only Robert SWEAT, Wendall DAILY and a third unidentified airman could evacuate their aircraft and parachute.
Robert SWEAT was half out to a bomber window when it exploded and he was ejected.
According to this flyer, his co-pilot DAILY Wendall was executed by the Germans before touching the ground.
