Flo Mémoires:
Today, I would like to pay a tribute to John R.Offutt who paid the ultimate sacrifice for the freedom of France. John was born in Keystone, West Virginia and graduated from Stetson University in Florida. He was a High School teacher when he met and fell in love with a woman that would become his wife. They moved to the Florida Keys where he played minor league baseball and taught High School. When the war broke out, John entered the service and was later sent to Europe with the United States Army. In June 1944, John R.Offutt was a 1st Lieutenant in the 117th Infantry Regiment, 30th Infantry Division. On June 23, 1944 he was killed in action. He now rests in peace for eternity at the Normandy American Cemetery, Plot I, Row 25, Grave 17. Thank you for your service and sacrifice John R.Offutt, we will never forget.
