| James was a brother of the Michigan Alpha chapter of Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity at the University of Michigan. The Grand Haven, MI native was Michigan Alpha's first casualty of WWII, and was serving with the 323rd Bomber Squadron, 91st Bomber Group (Heavy) when he was killed in action over Western Europe. He attended the University of Michigan from 1935-1937. |
