STORY

An Almedia soldier, Pvt. William E. Mensch, lost his life in the in-
vasion of France on D-day, his mother, Mrs. Florence Mensch, was
advised by telegram yesterday.

The War Department telegram stated that the 24-year-old soldier was
killed in action in France on June 6, the date of the invasion.

He was in an amphibious tank outfit.
The last letter to his family was received Tuesday, under postmark of May 28, and in it he stated he was anxious to get home to take a good rest.

He was the son of the late William Mensch, a veteran of World War I. The family resided in Bloomsburg for some years before removing to Almedia.
