| Before joining Charles HARSH spent a year in high school and then began working as a painter on construction sites. He lived in Carroll County, Ohio. He enlisted in January 1943 and was assigned to the branch of the Military Police. In July of the same year he was sent overseas, so he participated in the campaigns of North Africa, Sicily, Italy and France. During his service he will be admitted three times in military hospital for fractures A first time in November 1943 for a fracture to the 3rd metatarsal following a collision. It will be released in February of the following year. A second time in June 1944 after being fractured the radius in a car accident, which will immobilize it for 2 months. And one last time in August 1945 because of a skull fracture after a fall in a vehicle in Lyon. He will not survive this last injury and will be mentioned DNB (Died Non-Battle) in the reports. | |||||||
