STORY | |||||||
When the tank was full, the plane took off - At the formation gathering, the mechanic E. Kramer pointed out that the fuel gauges were low - After advice from the shore crew chief who indicated that this was probably due to a malfunction of these, the aircraft continued its mission. After dropping the bombs on the target, on the return, the gauges being very low, the pilot indicated that he would try to land on an Allied airfield on the continent - Escorted by 3 P-51s, engine 3 at half mast, 4 with empty gauge, the plane at low altitude was fired by light flak - the pilot then ordered the evacuation of the plane |
