John G. Klafka was born June 19, 1911 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to Mr. John Klafka and Mrs. Mary (Cicha) Klafka. He married Lottie L. Krzewina on July 1, 1944 in Milwaukee.
In August of 1944 John was deployed with the 116th Infantry Regiment, 29th Infantry Division to Normandy. He was wounded in battle on September 7, 1944. On September 27, 1944 John died of his injuries and was laid to rest with his fellow soldiers in Brittany American Cemetery and Memorial, Saint-James, France.
Although they were only married for almost three months at the time of his death, Lottie never dated another man and remained a widow until her death 57 years later. He is survived by his loving and devoted widow; Lottie L.(Krzewina) Klafka of Milwaukee, his father and mother; John and Mary, of Milwaukee, his five brothers; Clemens, Michael, Harry, Ray and George, and his four sisters; Helen, Annie, Clara, and Regina all of Milwaukee.
