B-17F (n°42-29792) shot down over St Nazaire on May 29th 1943. The mission 42-29792 participated in was one of 61 that the USAAF did and the 9th US bombing of St Nazaire. The objective remained the submarine pens. According to data collected from M Lugez's interview of the sole survivor, Sgt Raymond H Allaby (tail gunner), the plane was hit by AA fire at 8400m while dropping its bombs on the submarine pens.
