Mission: Bombing near Bordeaux

Take-off: 7:20 from Station 138 Snetterton Heath, UK
Crash: The aircraft was damaged by a Fw-190 which touched two engines, one of which caught fire, half of the tail was also torn off.

The engine fire becoming uncontrollable the Cpt. COLE ordered his crew to evacuate the aircraft. He remained at the controls until the end to allow his crew to jump safely.

He’ll never leave his plane.
