Eddie, fils bien-aimé de John Christopher et Lula Mae Harrison Sowder. Ses frères et sœurs sont : Casper, Robert, Lena Clercy, William, Margaret, James, Henry, Mary Grace et Dolores Sowder. Il était membre du 502d Parachute Infantry, 101st Airborne Division, U.S. Army et a été tué au combat après l'invasion du jour J en Normandie, en France. Il a été abattu par un tireur d'élite allemand et est mort en passant son fusil à baïonnette tiré à son lieutenant-colonel Robert G. Cole aux commandes. La première bataille à la baïonnette du 101st Screaming Eagles à Carentan France le 11 juin 1944.
There is a memorial outside the museum depicting Private Sowder, his commanding officer and 2 other young men commemorating the bayonet charge. The memorial will be dedicated June 4, 2014 honoring the 70th anniversary of this historic battle. Biography by: Madeleine | |||||||
